What are SOLIDSVAC pumps and what are they used for?

SOLIDSVAC pumps are a type of industrial pump that are used to transfer liquids and solids. They are commonly used in oil & gas, drilling, municipal, mining, and other industrial applications.

How does a SOLIDSVAC pump work?

SOLIDSVAC pumps work in two methods, depending on the application.  The first, being ‘pure vacuum’ and the second being ‘pneumatic conveying’.  In general, vacuum is utilized to remove debris or sludge that is located underneath a liquid, or to quickly transfer liquids or slurry in close proximity to the machine. In this situation, the vacuum tube is completely submerged in the liquid, and only the material is transported through the line, without any air.

When using this method, the maximum height that the material can be lifted from the machine to the surface is 9.2 meters at sea level, assuming the liquid being used is water. If the material is being transferred over a longer distance horizontally, the distance will be greater. It's important to note that when working with materials that are denser than water, these figures will have to be adjusted accordingly. This method of pumping is a traditional technique that uses negative pressure to move the material.

On the other hand, SOLIDSVAC solids pumps, slurry pumps, and sludge pumps can utilize pneumatic conveying techniques, which allows them to transcend the limitations of traditional pumping methods.

What are the advantages of using a SOLIDSVAC pump?

SOLIDSVAC pumps are efficient, have high flow rates, and can handle a wide range of viscosities and densities. They can also handle high solids content without clogging, and are typically easy to maintain.

What are some common applications for SOLIDSVAC pumps?

Common applications for SOLIDSVAC pumps include wastewater treatment, mining, and other industrial applications where liquids and solids need to be transferred.

What is the maximum flow rate for a SOLIDSVAC pump?

The maximum flow rate for a SOLIDSVAC pump will vary depending on the specific model and application. Please refer to our product brochures, which contain a wealth of information here.

What is the maximum solids size that a SOLIDSVAC pump can handle?

The maximum solids size that a SOLIDSVAC pump can handle will vary depending on the specific model and application.  Typically, we say 75% of the inlet diameter.

What is the maximum pressure that a SOLIDSVAC pump can handle?

The maximum pressure that a SOLIDSVAC pump can handle will vary depending on the specific model and application.  The pump will require 7-8 bar to operate effectively, and the relief valve will be set to around 12 bar.

How should I maintain my SOLIDSVAC pump?

Regular maintenance is important for SOLIDSVAC pumps to ensure they continue to operate at optimal efficiency. Consult the manufacturer's instructions for specific maintenance information, found in the Operations Manuals here.

What are some common problems with SOLIDSVAC pumps and how can they be resolved?

Some common problems with SOLIDSVAC pumps include clogging, leaks, and wear and tear on the mechanical parts.  Over 95% of issues with SOLIDSVAC pumps are caused by insufficient air supply, or that air being of poor quality.  As with any pneumatic system, we require clean and dry air for maximum performance.  Please speak with us about our filtration options.  Please consult the manufacturer's instructions for specific troubleshooting information.
